Devon Brooks
An entrepreneurial tour-de-force, Devon Brooks co-founded Blo Blow Dry Bar, a first of it's kind franchise concept, born from her second year University project. With 18 locations across North America, this wash and style concept has grabbed attention due to its unique and exciting branding. She was dubbed ‘The Business Mind' as one of Canada's Top 13 Bright Young Things in FLARE magazine, has been nominated for Chatelaine Magazine's ‘Hot 20 Under 30' 2011 Women of the Year Awards, and represented Canada as 1 of 30 delegates at the G20 Young Entrepreneurs Summit in Nice, France this past Fall.
The boldest part of Devon's story is a personal one; she was assaulted in two untimely, and entirely separate incidences at 18 and then again at 21, and went through the ensuing judicial process that eventually led to a guilty plea by both men. She is candid about her experiences, finds humour in life's curve balls, and digs authenticity hard. Devon is often asked to speak publicly about her story of forgiveness and maintaining momentum, in business and in life, while working through depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Devon stands out in her generation and beyond, as an energetic action-driven young entrepreneur who thrives on keeping-it-really-real.
