Jenny Buccos
Jenny Buccos is the Director, Producer, and Founder of ProjectExplorer.org.
Jenny began her professional career in 1999 with Credit Suisse First Boston as a marketing project manager on two web-based startup projects. It is here where she gained experience with global media production and successfully managed marketing campaign projects in Hong Kong, Tokyo, and New York.
In 2003, before the existence of YouTube, Jenny founded ProjectExplorer.org - an organization whose mission is to encourage awareness of the world beyond a student's own community through the creation, production, and distribution of engaging multimedia educational materials available free of charge on www.projectexplorer.org.
In five short years, Jenny single-handedly raised more than $1 million in sponsorships, and has taken ProjectExplorer.org from a simple concept to a world-class, multi-award-winning non-profit organization.
With the funds raised, in 2006 Jenny produced and directed ProjectExplorer.org's first series entitled Shakespeare's England. She then proceeded to direct and produce ProjectExplorer.org's South Africa series in 2007 and 2008, and was featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, for her work in South Africa. In the fall of 2008, Jenny directed and produced ProjectExplorer.org's third series in Jordan, and in 2010 launched ProjectExplorer.org's Mexico series.
In 2011, she directed and produced ProjectExplorer.org series in Thailand, Costa Rica, and Belize. She is currently developing two television series and future ProjectExplorer.org series in Tibet, Western Europe, and the Maldives.
To date, Jenny has directed and produced more than 350 short films for students featuring visionaries and leaders such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Russell Simmons, Princess Basma bint Ali of Jordan, Eric Ripert, Ziggy Marley, Anthony Bourdain, and Belize's First Lady Kim Simplis-Barrow to name but a few.
