Linda Lundstrom

Award-winning Canadian Fashion Designer Linda Lundstrom owned and operated Linda Lundstrom Inc. from 1974 to 2008. The creator of uniquely Canadian clothing for authentic women, Lundstrom championed 'Made in Canada' The company was recognized for innovative leadership, business achievement, community outreach, environmental initiatives, use of CAD/CAM (Computer Assisted Design/Computer Assisted Manufacturing) technologies and Lean Manufacturing. In addition to corporately-owned stores, the company supplied retailers throughout Canada and the USA.


Today, Linda Lundstrom Works (tm) provides the platform for Lundstrom to fulfill her life's purpose ..... to inspire others. Students at George Brown College, audiences at keynote speeches, participants in workshops and business clients seeking guidance, have all been inspired by Lundstrom's knowledge and skills.

Accomplishments

  • Born in Red Lake and raised in Cochenour, Ontario, Linda's approach to fashion was greatly influenced by the beauty of her natural surroundings. It was also here where Linda first witnessed the injustices towards First Nations People, which inspired her to found the Kiishik Fund in 1989. Now, Linda donates all of her speaking proceeds to this fund.
  • She is a Professor at George Brown College, teaching courses in Apparel Manufacturing and the Fashion Management Program.
  • Linda was Founder, President and Chief Creative Officer of Linda Lundstrom Inc. from 1974 to 2008. She designed the 60,000 square foot lean manufacturing facility for the complete design, product development, production and distribution of all garments.
  • During the operation of her world reknowned business, Linda was committed to Made in Canada, corporate social responsibility and environmental stewardship. She initiated programs such as "Waste Not, Want Not", and "Win/Win", which reduced waste, reused fabric cuttings, and recycled production by-products.
  • Linda has been the recipient of numerous awards, including: Government of Canada's "Order of Ontario"; Canadian Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Lifetime Achievement; University of Toronto Humanitarian Award; City of Toronto Designer of the Year Award; Canadian Federal Government's Ingenuity Award; YWCA Women of Influence Award in Corporate Leadership and many more.
  • She has received honorary Doctorates from Ryerson University in Toronto, Mount St. Vincent University in Halifax, and Laurentian University in Sudbury.
