- She was this year's recipient of the McGill Management Achievement Award from Montreal's McGill University.
- The American Biographical Institute is one of the world's leading biographical reference publishers and authorities on global contemporary achievement, and recognizes the deeds of outstanding men and women through the acknowledgement of professional documentation. LuAn was named the ABI's 2005 Woman of the Year
- Mitchell is an active part of the community, volunteering with such organizations as the United Way, YWCA and Junior Achievement.
- In 1999, she established the Fred Mitchell Memorial Scholarship, which provides economically challenged youth a chance to create a better life for themselves and others. In memory of her late husband, the scholarship is presented annually to a deserving young person.
- In March 2003, Mitchell founded the Gingara Trust Fund at the University of Saskatchewan in memory of her parents.
- LuAn is currently the President and CEO of Save the Planet Holdings, and serves on several boards, including The Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World, Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government Women's Leadership Board and the University of Saskatchewan's Institute of Agriculture, Rural and Environmental Health.
